Effective SEO Tactics

SEO Tactics

The reason that so many businesses struggle with search engine optimization is because it is an ever-evolving concept. What worked to boost your search engine rankings last year may not yield the same results this year.

That’s because Google makes changes to their algorithm and indexing criteria all the time. In fact, by their own admission, Google makes broad changes to their algorithm several times a year.

So it can be very difficult to stay on top of all these changes and stay at the top of the search engine results pages (SERPs). However there are some tactics that have proven to be effective no matter what the search engine climate is like. In the following post, we will share some of those tactics with you.

Utilizing Video Descriptions

Here’s a fun fact: Google web crawlers don’t watch YouTube videos in order to learn what they’re about. So how does Google determine that a video is relevant to what you search for? The video description.

Think about the descriptions you have for your current videos. They’re probably pretty short right? And you probably haven’t optimized them for keyword ranking. The fact is that your video descriptions are an excellent opportunity to use your target keywords and improve your SEO.

Low Competition Keywords

Depending on the market you’re in, your top ranking keywords may be incredibly saturated – many companies in the same market all vying to rank high for the same keywords.

So you can give your SEO a boost by going after lower-competition keywords. You can find low-competition keywords by using Google Trends or the Google Keyword Planner. You can also check out any subreddits related to your market to look for phrases that members are using.

Longtail keywords (phrases that have more words than normal keywords and that add specificity to a search) are also a good source of lower-competition searches.

Think of it like this: being the top result for a low-competition keyword is better than being on the second page of SERPs for high-competition keywords.

Optimizing Page Descriptions

Much like the video descriptions we have discussed, your page descriptions are another opportunity to utilize your keywords. This is a super-simple but effective way to get your web pages ranked higher.

And the concept behind it is very easy: take as much of the guesswork off the hands of the search engine algorithm as possible so it’s easier to index your pages. When you insert keywords into the page descriptions, you make it easier for the algorithm to find you and determine that your content is relevant to what the user is searching for. It’s also a good idea to use your keywords in your web page titles.

Quality Content

One thing that hasn’t changed much over the years is the prioritizing of quality content. Google will always seek out the most relevant and highest quality content on the web anytime someone performs a search.

So no matter what kind of content you’re pumping out (blogs, video tutorials, social media posts, infographics, case studies etc.) you have to make sure that it provides something of value to the consumer.

It can be very hard to develop quality content that boosts your SEO. But Launched Digital Solutions can put a whole team of content developers and SEO experts in your corner.
